DC FLIGHT RESTRICTION ZONE

What is it?

FAA map of Washington, D.C. airspace showing the inner 0–15 mile Flight Restricted Zone in red and the outer 15–30 mile Special Flight Rules

The Washington, DC area is protected by a Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) and Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA), which place strict limitations on drone operations. While recreational flights are prohibited, approved commercial drone operations are possible when properly authorized and coordinated.

As highly qualified, trained, FAA Part 107 licensed pilots, we understand the requirements, lead times, and approvals needed to operate legally within restricted airspace. We manage the authorization process on your behalf to ensure safe, compliant operations, with FAA approvals typically requiring 2–4 weeks.

Let's work together.
